A colles fracture, in medical terms is also called distal radius fracture. Radius and ulna are the two bones that are situated within the arms. The radius is the longer as compared to ulna in length. The point at the wrist where the two bones are nearer to each other is called the distal end. The fracture in the distal ends originate when the radius near the forearm gets broken.
This fracture can be caused when someone falls from a great height with their arms wide stretched, or during a car accident or a bike accident or fall from a hill or in similar situations like this. A severe blow in the other bone which is the ulna can also cause a severe harm to the body which can also prove dangerous to the body. It is also in medical terms referred by the same name known as distal radius or fracture.
